If this "breaking in the ring and pinion" is so critical then why don't class c motorhomes have frequent rear end problems because they are under load from the day they leave the RV manufacturer. These are usually similar running gear to a one ton pickup. You don't see the bare cutaway chassis being driven for 500 miles to break in the ring and pinion. Many class c motorhomes are built in Indiana and then driven up to 2,000 miles to the dealer. Do the transport drivers only drive 55 mph and stop and let the drive train cool down completely every 50 to 100 miles?
Same thing with a small commercial truck. The dealer has a bare one ton dual wheel cab and chassis sitting on their lot. You buy it and they send it to a local truck body dealer and they install a box van body or a utility body on it. In a metropolitan area it may only be a 5 or 10 mile drive. In the Denver area the Supreme body regional shop gets many chassis dropped shipped directly to them. You don't see them driving around the bare chassis to break in the ring and pinion. Customers just load them with tools and equipment or cargo and put them to work.
If your owners manual says to slowly break it in then do it that way and you will feel better. But there many trucks on the road that are just put to work immediately.

From my experience NADA Guides run from 10 to 20% overpriced. So the price sounds high.
There is a date code on the tires that you need to check.
22 hours on the generator is very low. Especially on a 6 year old motorhome. You need to start it yourself when it has not been running. Does it start easily. After it warms up, 5 minutes, put it under load with the air conditioner, lights on, etc. After running it under load for some time, perhaps 30 minutes, shut it down for a few minutes and then see how it restarts after being run. Lack of use is as hard on a generator and being run a lot. Fuel can gum up the carb and in areas with a lot humidity the high humidity can mess up the other parts of the generator from just siting.
The floor issue sounds like there may have been some type of water leak.

You need to check this very closely. Colorado, for example, the requirement can be as small as one employee.
Also for the employers as well as the workers the "independent contractor situation can be very complex. Simply saying the worker is an independant contractor does not always work and is not always legal.

Which model Ford chassis? What model is the motorhome?? Any slides? Milage? How old are the tires - actually check the dates on the tires - not just a guess?

The most popular brands of racks are Yakima and Thule. While there are some differences between these brands either one would probably be a good choice.
They are carried by sporting goods stores, bicycle shops and rack specialty retailers and outdoor equipment stores like REI.
They frequently can be found on sale. This time of year the summer market is winding down so you can find sales. And the winter, skiing and snowboarding season is having their preseason sales. So a sale price may be as helpful as the particular brand.

The parking lot on Mt. Evans is at 14,130 ft elevation (Pike's Peak is only 14,110 ft). So I guess shortly before you get to the parking lot on Mt. Evans that non-turbo engine will have zero power.

I think that you are not correct in your calling something styrofoam.
Styrofoam is a specific brand of extruded polystyrene produced by the Dow Chemical Company. Styrofoam is not a generic term for many types of plastic foam material. But it is frequently misused name. A similar error would be to call every kind of coffee a "starbucks" no matter where you bought it.
The real Styrofaom will be a blue color, Dow's marketing color for Styrofoam, and the minimum thickness available is in their sheathing products and that is 1/2" thick. While Dow's Styrofoam has a lot of uses and is a good insulator I doubt if it is used as a underlayment for a wood floor by itself.
So are you saying that you would use a 1/2" underlayment and call that thin?

Going to the larger size on the truck would be a better idea.
But truck tires and trailer tires are not the same. The have different design criteria. Putting a tire designed for a truck on a 39 ft trailer is not a good idea.
Buying 12 tires at once might get you a better price but not having he proper type of tire could cost you a lot more in the long run.

There are two animals that you need to respect. Bison and moose.
Every year you hear of tourists being injured because they wanted to walk up to a Bison and have their picture taken. Even though they are familiar with people they are a wild animal.
And moose are just a nasty tempered animal. Bears, mountain lions, even buffalo will usually avoid you if you leave them alone. A moose may charge you just because they feel like it. They seem to have an attitude that I can whip you and I am just going to prove it.

When they were built in Colorado Tiger had models built on a converted full sized 4 x 4 van chassis. They also built some on a converted 4 x 4 Chevy Astro chassis. Most of these were pop up models. Later they came out with a hard top model.
You still see some of the older ones in Colorado. Check places like Craig's List or Auto Trader.

Less wind resistance in the thinner air. With the mountains you are going downhill part of the time.
How old is the Vue? If low mileage, the car could be getting broken in and thereby the mileage improving. Are you simply driving slower doing a lot of sightseeing?

You need to be more specific. Where do you want to go? How long do you have to visit? Do you want to just drive or do you want to stay at various places?
If you want to see a lot of variety within Colorado it could easily involve driving 600 to 1,000 miles just in Colorado.

It is not a truck camper but it would be a class c. They were previously built in Colorado. One thing about them is there is very little, if any, exterior storage.
The other thing is that using a pickup cab instead of the usual class c chassis you loose three feet in relation to the total length of the motorhome. The BBC (Bumper to back of Cab) distance of the usual E-450 is about 7 feet. The usual pickup BBC is about 10 feet.

I have found that the NADA Guides are 10% to 20% overpriced.
Also National is no longer in business so the dealer may not be that interested in getting your motorhome so he feels he needs more for the one you are buying.
In reality the difference in the values is the key. He offers more on the trade in to make you feel good but makes up difference by charging more on the one you are buying. You are wanting to pay $12,000 less for the one you are buying. So if he pays you $12,000 less for your Dolphin he can sell the one for less money.
With National being out of business your motorhome may not be that attractive even if it is excellent condition. How many buyers will want to buy the National since they are out of business? Unless they can buy a National Dolphin for a cheap price. That is what the dealer is facing to sell your motorhome.
Why not try and sell the Dolphin yourself? Then you will find out what it is really worth.

Going through Leadville is going to add more climbing. Leadville is at about 10,000 ft elevation and Buena Vista is about 7,900 ft. But then you have to climb Tennessee Pass which is not bad but you go down to Minturn and through Vail which is about 8,150 ft and then have to climb Vail Pass, 10,666 ft, from the west which is the harder climb.
If you want to go to Leadville, which is very interesting, a lot of mining history, a easier route is go from Leadville on Highway 91 over Freemont Pass, 11,318 ft, and get on I-70 at Copper Mountain for the drive to Denver. But I-70 adds the climb from Silverthorne to the Eisenhower/Johnson Memorial tunnels, 11,158 ft, which is a long and high climb. The only advantage to I-70 is that it is 4 lanes.
Going Highway 91, Freemont Pass, you miss Vail but to be honest Vail is not RV friendly. And while Vail is a great ski area the views in Vail are not as good as Leadville, etc. Unless you like to see a lot of very expensive houses, and condos.
The most direct route and probably the easiest is Highway 285. From Buena Vista through Fairplay and South Park has great mountain views. If there is time stop at Fairplay and see South Park City. They have created a mining era town using real buildings that have been moved from old mining camps and towns in that region. The climb over Kenosha Pass, 10,001 ft is not bad.
